Legal aspects of mentally safe work
Beyond fruit bowls and step challenges. What are the legal obligations on businesses with respect to workers’ mental wellbeing? When does WorkSafe become involved in bullying and mental health issues and what does that look like for the business involved?
Joseph specialises in health and safety and insurance law. He has appeared in the High Court as junior counsel on the leading sentencing decision of Stumpmaster and Oceana Gold. He works across New Zealand and has recently appeared in sentencings involving fatalities or serious injuries in Opotiki, Hastings, Hawera and Greymouth. In addition to Court work he provides pro-active advice regarding health and safety compliance to government departments and private businesses.
Prior to joining Chapman Tripp Joseph worked at the Department of Labour as a health and safety prosecutor.
