Taking a multi-tiered approach to Mentally Healthy work
Air New Zealand is a complex, diverse organisation who have been at the forefront of the Covid-19 pandemic over the past three years. The relentless pressure and significant change experienced throughout the response has meant looking after the mental health and wellbeing of their 10,000 people has never been more important. Hear more about their multi-tiered approach to wellbeing, and their goal of creating one of the world’s most mentally healthy workplaces.
Liam has worked in corporate health and wellbeing for more than 15 years, across a range of organisations and industries. For the past six years he has been at Air New Zealand where he is currently the Senior Manager of Strategic Wellbeing.
His work at Air NZ includes developing a Mental Health and Wellbeing strategy, working with a diverse range of leaders across the company to understand their important role of health and wellbeing leadership, and building a Peer Support network of trained volunteers who are identified as trusted contacts that employees can reach out to for support and advice. Air NZ were recently named the Supreme Award winners for “Leadership, excellence and positive impact relating to mental health within the workplace” at the inaugural HeadFit Awards in 2021.
Liam is a father to two girls, a former professional triathlete and faithful Warriors fan. These days a good day includes quality time with his family and a run through the bush.
